Should Scientists Infect Healthy Human Volunteers with Coronavirus to Test Experimental Vaccines?
The Covid-19 Pandemic has generated difficult bioethical issues that has revisited the moral frameworks we have used in the past to resolve ethical dilemmas in medicine. These have involved issues regarding rationing resources, how to account for past systemic injustices in access to healthcare, what are the obligations of health care workers towards patients when there is a significant risks to family and self, and how and whether to conduct risky clinical trials to enhance the common good. In our session, we will explore that different ethical frameworks that have traditionally been used in medicine and public health.
